Roll up your sleeves & get your hands in some mud – this Spring we’re going to be working in wet clay using simple hand-building techniques.
First workshop – 15th March: make a lidded Easter pot with pretty sprigs and a pulled handle.
How it works
I’ll teach you step-by-step how to make an object that I’ll dry, fire and glaze for you to pick up.
Each object will be a small domestic item based on the seasonal theme – like a vase or lidded pot. For Easter & Spring it’s going to get flowery!
Clay will be provided pre-rolled so the messy prep is already done for you & we can focus on building. You’ll be able to make at least one object in the session and then you can make more / experiment a bit.
Dates and times
Tuesday evenings from 7 – 9.30pm at All You Read is Love cafe, 877 High St, Leytonstone E11 1HR
15th March – lidded Easter pots (slab cylinders, pulled handles, simple sprigs)
10th May – to be decided – the images below show ideas in progress at the moment
£30 includes all materials and tools needed, firing and glazing. (Fired pieces will be available to pick up from the cafe the Sunday following the workshop)
Do I need to bring anything?
No, for a first session just turn up and we’ll take it from there.
Do I need an art background?
Not at all; complete beginners, rusty returners and awe-inspiring creatives alike are welcome, and I’m confident the techniques provided will enable you to produce pieces you can be proud of.
How messy will it get?
Not very – as the clay is pre-rolled it’s pretty clean to handle. You don’t need an apron but don’t wear anything too smart.
